FAQ

What is Cupping Therapy and how is it used in beauty treatments?

Cupping is the use of glass cups as suction devices placed on the skin of the face or body. In Chinese Medicine this assists to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion by drawing congested blood and energy to the surface. The larger cups can also be gently glided across the skin of the body for a massage effect that is soothing and medical, while small facial cups with light suction can be used during beauty treatment . Cupping when used on the back often leads to bruising on the skin which in Chinese medicine indicates the level of blood and Qi stagnation, toxin accumulation and dampness accumulation in your body. Cupping on the face is never strong and do not produce bruises.

What is Gua Sha Therapy when used for antiaging and skin health benefits?

Gua sha is a natural therapy practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries. Practitioners glide or scrape a Gua Sha tool across the skin to help stimulate the immune system and or reduce pain and inflammation. Gently used on the face, Gua Sha is an effective technique used to improve skin health, reduce fine lines, promote circulation, boost lymphatic drainage, relax facial muscles and increase collagen and elasticity.

What is Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture | What is it good for?

Cosmetic facial acupuncture is an extension of traditional acupuncture and focuses specifically on aesthetic conditions of the face. It is gentle and non invasive and requires the insertion of very fine acupuncture needles on the skin of the face. Cosmetic facial rejuvenation acupuncture is used to help support skin health and reduce the signs of facial skin aging. Often used in conjunction with Gua Sha therapy these two treatments are a great combination for skin heath and beauty.

What is Microneedling good for | Should I try it?

Microneedling is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as scarring from acne, surgery, stretch marks as well as enlarged pores and wrinkles. Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure using a medical device to prick the skin with small sterilized needles. This style of treatment aims to encourage natural new collagen production and smooth, tone and firm the skin tissue. Microneedling is considered a minimally invasive procedure, requires a topical numbing cream for 20min prior to commencing and may have a day of down town, which may vary from patient to patient.

Why LED Light Therapy is the key to the kind of skin you’ve always wanted

The LED Light Therapy panel is used for skin repair and facial rejuvenation.

The LED Light Therapy panel is used for skin repair and facial rejuvenation.

Phototherapy, or light therapy, is known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties and is used in a variety of ways across many medical fields, including in more therapeutic environments like our own at MO+. Research has shown that light therapy can work to increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, kill acne bacteria, decrease inflammation, reverse signs of sun damage, improve skin tone, as well as overall texture and clarity of the skin. Light therapy has also been shown to increase the natural production of collagen and elastin in the skin, working to create a more radiant and youthful complexion. In essence, the MO+ Light Therapy treatments works to improve and increase the cellular metabolism of the skin, helping in the repair, rejuvenation and replenishment of our clients complexions.

How Does Light Energy work?

Specific wavelengths of light energy, when properly absorbed, up-regulates compromised cells. The light (photons) energy is absorbed by photoacceptors in the mitochondria and used to create adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The ATP produced then stimulates various metabolic processes which can result in the repair and regeneration of cell and tissue components.

Blue, red and near-infrared are the most commonly used wavelengths in LED phototherapy. These specific wavelengths are well researched and scientifically proven to produce therapeutic benefits. Blue penetrates through the epidermis and is known to kill P.acnes bacteria. Red penetrates into the dermal layer and has been shown to enhance collagen and elastin production through photo-biostimulation of fibroblasts. Near-infrared penetrates deepest and increases micro-circulation (tissue repair), decreases inflammation and attenuates pain.

LED Light Therapy and Beauty Facial Treatments at MO+
