Corona Season – the big slow down!

There will be a time when we all look back on this season and think to ourselves what an incredible phase of our human growth in consciousness.

I’m always one to look forward rather than back and in a crisis I find certainty. Why, because when I’m pushed and pushed hard and fast I’m forced to weigh up the odds quickly and then almost instinctively recognise what’s important to me in a Zen like fashion.

In the last couple of weeks I found not only myself but friends too, going back to living simply as we did twenty years ago. I’ve rediscovered the joy of a well-planned home cooked meal and sitting down for dinner at 6pm, of spending more slow time together, albeit in forced isolation. Of taking an unhurried yoga session or stretch to unwind those frozen computer shoulder and tech neck. And with mornings taken up by flicking through recipes for pickling vegetables and inward reflection and meditative time, a bit of soul space in solitude I call it.

What else has unfolded because we as a human species have been pushed hard. Adaptation, flexibility, innovation and agility. Some business like MO+ have been asked by our government to support the people, to hibernate and re-emerge at the end of the season. I am amazed and proud of the way the team here at MO+ have whole heartedly embraced their role to support their community and of how so many businesses have swung into action literally overnight. Finding new ways of delivering service and support to their community. Restaurants delivering food, supermarket chains offering early shopping for the elderly, landlords reducing rent and councils opening up their funds to their constituents.

And of course where would we be without family and loved ones. These trying times can also bring togetherness and certainty as we reconnect to good old fashion values and reconfirm what’s important to us. That we do care about the welfare of others, family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues, the guy at the corner store, the barista that you ritually see every morning, the guy that brings your mail for the last 12 years and of course the welfare of our planet. All these things that are important to us and have an abundance of in our lives were there every day, all along.

In years to come I will look back on this period in time and fall in love again with how people came together during uncertainly and looked out for each other. The mantra ‘stay safe’ meaning I care about you. So in the coming weeks and months of the Corona Season we will be forced to slow down. Take this as an opportunity to live simply so that others can simply  live.

Much Love,

Barbara and Team MO+ (Gary, Emiko, Corina, Yvette, Lukas, Antonello, Sam, Yoko, Kalotina, Mike)
